The Maine Highlands region has a bevy of creative craft breweries with talented, passionate brewers. Many of our craft brewers are passionate about creating unique flavors, which often times turn into award winning beer. There’s a lot of variety, and many of our brewers take pride in using local Maine grown ingredients.

2 Feet Brewing Co.

Craft brewers Cory Ricker and Jerry Robichaud have a passion for creating unique brews. The staple beer at 2 Feet Brewing, Barn Burner, is a jalapeno and ghost pepper saison.

207 Beer Company

Josiah Hartley and Jon Fader graduated together from Bangor High School. Their passion for brewing turned into 207 Beer Company, a small batch brewery, which opened in 2018.

Owners of the much-loved Oriental Jade decided to expand with a brewery on site. Bangor Beer Co. is one of the first east coast Brewpubs to feature top-notch sushi, wok-fired Chinese food, as well as unique American, international and Asian-inspired Brew pub fare.

Bissell Brothers Three Rivers

Noah and Peter Bissell started Bissell Brothers in Portland in 2013. They opened Bissell Brothers Three Rivers brewery and tasting room in their hometown of Milo in 2018. Stop in to pick up a growler before heading into the Maine woods.

Tim Gallon was one of the very first microbrewers setting up shop in the greater Bangor region. He opened Black Bear Brewing Co. in downtown Orono in 2008. He moved to a larger space in downtown Orono in 2012 and then opened a tasting room in downtown Bangor in 2018.

Blank Canvas Brewery

46 Betton Street, Brewer
Open: Thursday-Saturday, 4-9 pm
After 14 years of working for Allagash Brewing Company and creating beer at home, Stephen Genthner opened Blank Canvas Brewery with his wife, Jessica. Their brewery on the Penobscot River has been open since 2015.

Geaghan’s Pub & Craft Brewery opened in 1975, and it’s been a family business ever since. The brewery and tasting room opened in the spring of 2015, just across the river from the pub in Brewer. Mason’s Brewing Company

If you’re looking for sweeping views of the Penobscot River, head to Mason’s Brewing Company! Their Brewer facility is poised across the river from the Bangor Waterfront Pavilion and on the Brewer Riverwalk. Housed in a historic grain mill-style building, this busy craft brewery has 16 rotating beer taps.

Marsh Island Brewing

This quaint little brewery in downtown Orono is owned by the Swett family of craft brewers. Marsh Island Brewing opened with a 3 barrel system in 2015 and quickly grew. Two years later they expanded to 10 barrels and a canning machine. They have recently expanded their outdoor seating, which is a lovely spot to sit and enjoy the summer sun.

The husband and wife team of Asa and Heather Furth paired with brewmaster Asa Marsh-Sachs to create Orono Brewing Company. What started off as a tiny tasting room in downtown Orono has grown into two locations in Orono and Bangor. Their large variety of flavors means there’s always something new brewing.

Sea Dog Brewing Co.

Poised along the Penobscot River near downtown Bangor, Sea Dog Brewery serves up a bevy of brews and delicious meals all year long. The Bangor location is one of 9 in Maine, New Hampshire, and Florida. Their function space is great for parties and their outside deck is a summer staple in the Bangor area.

Joy and Tim Bueschen decided to start a new chapter in their lives. They turned the page on their corporate lives to fulfill their passions. They started Turning Page Farm to raise goats in Monson, Maine. The Turning Page Farm Beer Garden is open on the weekends serving Light and Pale Ale. Where else can you enjoy a pint of beer with adorable Guernsey goats keeping you company?
